Four lines is plenty
You do not need a formal brief, and you do not need to write it in technical language. If your message covers these four things, I can usually tell you something concrete straight away instead of asking three rounds of questions.
- What the system does, and who depends on it working
- The part that currently hurts - and roughly what it costs you
- Rough scale: how many users, how much data, how fast it is growing
- Timeline, and whether this is contract or permanent

- What kind of work are you looking for?
- Senior backend, platform, AI or full stack engineering - full time or contract. I do my best work on products where being wrong is expensive: money moving, stock counted, hours recorded, or many customer companies sharing one platform.
- Do you work with distributed teams?
- Yes. I am based in Dhaka on UTC+6 and work regularly with teams across Asia, Europe and North America. I overlap comfortably with European mornings and the full Asian working day, and I have been doing it for most of my career.
- How quickly do you reply?
- Usually within a day. Email is the most reliable way to reach me.
- I am not technical. Can you explain what you would do?
- Yes - that is most of the job. Every case study and article on this site opens with a plain-language summary of the problem and why it costs money, before any technical detail. I would talk to you the same way.
- Can you share more about work under NDA?
- Yes. I can walk through the architecture, the decisions and the outcomes in a conversation without any client-identifying detail. Most of what is interesting about a system is not the part that is confidential.
